1970“Me and my mum were talking about love, and different ways of loving people. She thought that one of her most romantic stories was that a friend of hers had a doll in her house, which came from her husband, who had bought the doll as a gift when she was born.

“This man also told her parents that he would one day marry their new baby. And he did. My mum thought this was a very romantic story, whereas I actually thought it was quite a creepy story – but also romantic in a strange way, because they were a loving couple.

“But I think we should have choice, and I think we should be able to go out there and look for people and maybe not marry someone who saw you when you were a baby.”
