”The phrase was told to me on the night I met Danielle. It was a fairly cold, wintry night at a pub in south London, Brixton called the Dogstar.

”Late in the evening a Kiwi guy who I didn’t really know sidled alongside me and asked if I had a girlfriend. When I said no, he told me this.

”Forward some 17 years since that date, here I am. And 10 years on, celebrating my anniversary with my lovely wife.”
