1656This is Chris Mould, director of The Trussell Trust, a charity which provides emergency food supplies to people in the UK who have fallen on hard times.

The charity also has a presence in Bulgaria, where it works to combat poverty and social exclusion – as it does in the UK.

Chris explains in his audio clip that he was at a TT project run for very vulnerable young adults, talking to a young Bulgarian woman.

“When she came she was dishevelled, she did not speak, she had suffered various forms of abuse and was a complete shell of a human being. I was talking to her six months later, asking what difference being in house [where the Trust runs its project] had made.

"She laughed and said, ‘I’m talking to you’.”
