2323“So in my youth I was very active in sport,” explains Pete Heck, who’s one half of the blogging team who run Hecktic Travels.

”I played baseball and ice curling. One of my coaches in baseball was very direct. If you weren’t performing, he’d tell you this.

”And so I grew up, met my wife Dalene and we became competitive together. We tried playing on the same team, and I tried implementing this strategy, and unfortunately it doesn’t work well with women.

“I tried it. There were tears, and I learned a valuable lesson and although it motivates me, it’s not the greatest motivation for others.”
