2289Mey told me that when she was a child she spent several years working on a dump in Phnom Penh with her family, picking through the rubbish for anything they could sell. They all slept next to the dump.

When she was a little older she managed to get away from doing that, and is now raising a family of her own. They all live in the area next to the dump which has now been closed and covered over.

Of her SOTM she said: ”My teacher always me about this when I was in school. Before, I stayed on the dump. I was working very hard.

”When I went to school, I explained to my teacher how I work on the dump, and then he give me this word to remember. So I remember all this word and I try to do my lessons good, and sussefully.”
