1467This superb lady is a neo-natal doctor, and has many moving stories to tell not only about her work which is with newborn babies, but also her personal life. She explains in her audio clip that she was told her SOTM by a colleague at the start of her career.

She said: “At the time I didn’t realise what an impact those words would have on me. I nearly quit my job a couple of years ago, but now I think about those words every day. I feel very, very lucky to be there to see babies being born, and to help them if they’re sick, and help families get through difficult times if things go wrong for them.”

After we’d wandered into this little park, I was lining up a shot of her against an interesting-looking tree when she suggested that her picture be taken with this sculpture by Bruce Denny, called Ascension, “because it’s about children, so it’s appropriate”. Taken in Soho Square, London.

"This llovely ady is indeed superb. She has been a huge huge inspiration to me (and I'm sure to many others) for many years now. Her empathy for others is innate and infuses everything she does. "
