1984"The person who I remember most from when I was younger is my gran, who's no longer with me. This is one of the things that she always used to say, which was a nice way of kind of making you feel better if things went wrong.

"So if you didn't get the exam results that you wanted, or the thing you wanted at the shop wasn't there any more, it obviously wasn't meant to be. If it was, it would have happened.

"It's nice advice, because if you don't get the job that you wanted, or something doesn't quite go as planned, then it just wasn't meant to be - cos what's for you won't go past you, you'll get it, because that's what's meant to happen to you."
