2187“I’ve been working for the Mercy Ships, which is a floating hospital off the coast of Guinea and West Africa. We have been working with a specific patient called Mamadou, who is a young chap born with radial dysplasia, which means that his wrists turn in and he had no thumbs.

”So over the last few months we’ve been working to surgically create him a new thumb from his index finger, and teach him how to use that hand. And when I was doing the final discharge paperwork with him, I asked him if there was anything he’d like to say before he left. And he just looked up at me and said this.”
